In 2011 The Alan Fraser Summer Piano Institute was inaugurated at Smith College in Northampton Massachusetts. The 1-week Institute was limited to ten active participants who each received a daily piano lesson from Professor Fraser as well as attending lectures on aspects of piano technique and the morning Feldenkrais group Awareness Through Movement lessons.
The 2012 Institutes have expanded to two sessions each at Smith College and Salt Lake City, Utah. This special, learning-intensive regime promises a transformation in your piano technique unlike anything available elsewhere.

Alan Fraser teaches an annual master class at the intimate Jens Schlichting Studio. The group is congenial, the work stimulating and empowering – a combination of individual lessons observed by the whole group and daily Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons. Practice facilities are available, and meals are prepared by the Kay family girls – it’s a real family atmosphere that promises to repeat itself this year… Date to be announced…

…takes place in a castle in Marketoberdorf, where students come together for individual lessons, chamber music, piano four hands, Feldenkrais lessons, and jazz and flamenco dance as well! Participants live, eat and study in an ancient Bavarian castle only a half-hour drive from the famous castle of King Ludwig II. Alan Fraser New York Weekly Piano Sessions 2011
Take advantage of this opportunity to work with Alan Fraser in several sessions each separated by a ‘gestating period’ in which you can integrate the rich, new body of information experience you’ll receive. Sessions will be at the piano, on the Feldenkrais table, or combined, according to your individual needs.
Lesson slots in 2011 were available June 3-4, June 12-15, June 27-29, and Aug 31-Sept 4.

Smith College hosted this master class which featured Alan Fraser alone. Individual, handcrafted lessons will be augmented with Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons as well as lectures on specific aspects of technique taken from The Craft of Piano Playing and Honing the Pianistic Self-Image. Fraser teaches at his old alma mater, now known as McGill’s Shulich School of Music over July 1st weekend. It’s a nice chance to combine work with the master and listening to some of the masters of Jazz – the International Jazz Festival hits town the same weekend.

And when he heads east to summer in the Maritimes he drops in at the Conservatoire de Musique du Quebec for a couple of days teaching en route.

Alan Fraser gave a master class and recital at Acadia last winter, and was immediately invited back to teach in the summer camps. This camp session is totally devoted to Alan Fraser’s teaching and the ideas of Craft of Piano Method.
